About Karmelo
Karmelo has over 16 years of diverse experience in eye care and has undertaken advance roles including refractive surgery consultation and post-operative care in Central London hospitals such as Western Eye Hospital and Optegra eye clinic.
Karmelo brings a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes through both clinical excellence and education. His career has spanned academic research and lecturing, undergraduate optometry clinical supervision, and extended roles including refractive surgery consultation and post-operative care. Karmelo is passionate about raising the standards in eye care having co-founded an Optometric education business that serves trainee Optometrists and his experience as a practice owner has lead to the delivery of professional development workshops for GPs and nurses.
As an independent prescriber, Karmelo integrates evidence-based care into the treatment of complex ocular surface conditions, including dry eye disease, blepharitis, acute anterior uveitis and infectious eye diseases. His holistic and compassionate approach reflects his broader mission to make eye care accessible and impactful.
Combining his love of travel with meaningful charitable work, beyond the UK, he commits to regular volunteer projects including providing eye care to refugees through a mobile eye clinic in Athens and offers vision services to homeless populations through collaborations with established Charities and NGOs.
